2009 Seasonal Flu Vaccinations
SMDC has a limited supply of nasal spray vaccine for the seasonal flu.
Healthy people ages 2-49 who are not pregnant can receive the nasal spray. Call your doctor to schedule an appointment to receive your flu vaccine.
Vaccinations for seasonal flu are recommended for:
- Children ages 6 months to 18 years (children 6 months through 8 years who are getting a flu vaccine for the first time need two doses at least 28 days apart; booster doses are available at the walk-in clinic)
- Anyone age 50 or older
- Women who will be pregnant during the influenza season
- Anyone ages 5-50 with a a chronic illness
- Household members or caregivers for any of the people listed above
- Anyone who wants to reduce his or her chances of getting the flu
Flu vaccines are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance plans.
