Flu prevention
Here's how you can protect yourself and help reduce the spread of influenza:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Cough or sneeze into your sleeve rather than your bare hands.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently using soap and water or an alcohol-based hand cleaner. This is especially important after you cough or sneeze.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Get your seasonal flu immunization. Click here for a list of SMDC Health System's walk-in clinics.
- Try to avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home if you are sick.
- Don't visit friends or family in the hospital if you’re not feeling well.
